Black Sail Consulting Brand Development
My Role: Integrated Designer, Creative Direction, Art Direction
Challenge: Black Sail Consulting, a premier firm specializing in government relations and strategic policy consulting, approached me with a need to elevate its brand identity to match its high-level service offering. Their existing brand failed to convey the sophistication and expertise they brought to navigating complex political waters for their clients.
Approach: As the integrated designer for this project, I took on the roles of both creative and art director. My approach centered on creating a visual identity that would resonate with Black Sail's target audience of government agencies and private sector clients seeking top-tier policy guidance.
Solution:
Logo Design: I crafted a bold, modern logo featuring the mast of a submarine, better known as the black sail, symbolizing the firm's ability to deftly navigate political currents. The logo's blue, black, and white color scheme evokes trust, professionalism, and precision.
Brand Guidelines: I developed comprehensive guidelines covering logo usage, color palette, typography, and imagery style.
Results: The new brand identity successfully positioned Black Sail Consulting as a modern, authoritative voice in government relations and policy consulting. Clients and partners praised the sophisticated visual language, noting that it accurately reflected the firm's expertise and caliber of service.
The rebranding effort led to:

Improved brand recognition within policy circles
Next Steps: Building on the success of the brand development, I am currently working on redeveloping Black Sail Consulting's website. Additionally, I will create a series of social media templates and email signatures to ensure brand consistency across all digital touchpoints. This project and supporting digital assets aim to further solidify their digital presence and create a user experience that aligns with their new brand identity and effectively showcases their core capabilities.
